Astoria Park

Description

In the summertime, the lines for the Olympic-size pool—the City’s largest—at this Queens park can get fairly long. For those who find the wait too much to bear, there are a number of other reasons to visit. The stunning views, for starters, which offer gorgeous vistas of the Hell Gate Bridge and cityscape, particularly when backlit by sunset. Tennis courts, playgrounds and a running track also draw crowds, but it’s the special events that make this park especially unique. Visitors can take part in free yoga classes, film screenings, concerts and storytelling sessions in the warmer months.
